Engage Communication Automatically Protects Circuits over Packet Networks
Aptos, CA. – July 18, 2011
Engage Communication, a leading provider of circuit emulation, circuit protection and encryption solutions announced the addition of Circuit to Packet automatic protection switching to theIP•Tube G series. Available as a stand-alone solution or slot-card for the 15 slot CHUB-Echassis, the solution offers automatic protection switching from two primary T1/E1 circuits onto a backup IP network in the event that one or both of the primary circuits fail. The chassis version supports protection switching for up to 30 T1/E1 circuits.
Increasingly, managers of critical infrastructure are being tasked with deploying solutions that provide resiliency in the face of T1/E1 circuit outages. One approach is to provide a backup or secondary T1/E1 circuit and equipment that automatically switches from the primary to secondary circuit if a failure on the primary link is detected. However, it is often economically infeasible to deploy a secondary T1/E1 circuit, or impractical to get another circuit from a second service provider to ensure true link independence.
An alternative is to use an Ethernet / IP network for the secondary connection. With the IP•Tube G or IP•Tube DLLink Protector feature, a failure in the primary T1/E1 circuit is detected and the T1/E1 is converted to packets for transport over the backup IP network. At the other end of the link, packets are converted back to T1/E1 to complete the connection. Packet networks are often less expensive than T1/E1 circuits, offer true network separation, and may be readily available.
Each IP•Tube GE1 / GT1-LPT (Link Protector) provides automatic protection for 2 independent full or fractional T1/E1 circuits by automatically routing the T1/E1 link over a packet network when a T1/E1 failure is detected.
Optional Automatic By Pass relay module provides a T1/E1 copper bypass in the event of a loss of power or failure. The ABP option has external inputs for remote control of the ByPass relays.
Engage Link Protector solutions are used in conjunction with land-line, radio and satellite secondary IP networks for various Enterprise, Government and Military applications.
