Engage Communication Announces the IPTube-RS530 - a Data Circuit to IP Packet Converter with Bit Rate Control
APTOS, Calif., July 31, 2002 - Engage Communication, Inc.
The IP•Tube RS530 encapsulates synchronous serial data from standard RS530 Data Terminal Equipment such as Encrypters, Terminal Servers, Video Codecs, and WAN Routers into a Transparent Bandwidth Regulated IP Tunnel. The IP encapsulation provides for the transparent interconnection of DTE via LANs, WANs, MANs, Satellite and Wireless Ethernet.
"The demand to convert circuit based connections to proven cost effective IP services is being propelled by the dramatic cost savings." said Mark Doyle Engage Communication President, "Wireless Ethernet provides for a free connection to Ethernet packetized communication."
Encryptors
A major application for the IP•Tube-RS530 is for the interconnection of Encryptors such as KIV 7s. A segment of the installed base of Encryptors can be redeployed over IP based services with a return on investment measurable in weeks.
WAN
WAN Routers utilize the IP•Tube-RS530 to transparently tunnel their connection through Broadband IP Services at Committed Information Rates from 8 kilobits to 2 megabits per second.
Video
Video Codecs that are using circuit-based connections with expensive monthly leases can be converted to IP services that are a fraction of the cost.
