The IPTube's encapsulates a full T3 circuit into IP packets. T3 Over IP connections provide for the interconnection of PBXs, Cellular equipment and Telecom Switches via LANs, WANs, MANs, IP Satellite, xDSL, Cable and Wireless Ethernet. 

Transparent Interconnect

The IPTube's transparent operation maintains the proprietary signaling required to support PBX features such as call conferences, call forwarding, caller ID and SS7. Legacy phone equipment investment is preserved.

Signaling Support
PRI ISDN, SS7, SLC-96, Proprietary out of band, and robbed bit signaling is supported. Transparent support for Data, Modem or Fax. Voice quality is not compromised.

Lossless Data Compression

Lossless Data Compression continuously detects idle/redundant data within each T1 Voice circuit resulting in as much as a 56 to 1 bandwidth savings. The compression works from the lowest latency setting of 8 T1 frames to the highest setting of 56 T1 frames per packet.

TDM over IP WAN bandwidth is not consumed by silent or redundant circuits.

Echo Cancellation

IPTube's Echo Cancellation provides the elasticity to support Echo Free Voice connections across networks with packet jitter.

Wide Area Networks that traverse an intranet or Internet have packet delay variation (Jitter) that typically exceeds 12 milliseconds. Total round trip delays in excess of 24 millisecond makes echo perceptible.

Echo Cancellor is DSP based and cancels up to 64 milliseconds of Far End echo. The echo canceller meets ITU-T G.164, G.165 and ITU-T G.168 requirements.

LAN Protector -PRO

The Protector option provides for automatic protection of the T1 circuit over independent IP packet routes. After conversion of the T1 circuit into IP packets, two identical packet streams are created. These duplicate packet streams are used to provide redundant IP connectivity to the remote location in either Always-On* or On-Demand* switch over modes.

The need to Protect Critical Communications is in high demand for the following applications:

“Always-On”

In Always-On mode, the Protector sends two identical packet streams simultaneously on the LAN1 and LAN2 ports of the local IP•Tube. The remote unit monitors both LAN1 and LAN2 incoming traffic and on a packet by packet basis selects the best packet to use for conversion from IP back to T1. In most cases, switching of the receive packet source between LAN1 and LAN2 can be done without T1 circuit interruption.

CEP Management

IPTube CEPs isolate management and data plane functionality with the use of two separate processor modules. Management processor access is limited to SSH or SNMPv3 encrypted sessions that employ AES 256 bit keys and sophisticated NIST passwords. These sessions may be established after authentication via TACACS+ or Radius.

The independent Linux based management plane of the IPTube CEP ensures Critical Infrastructure Data is isolated from management network access. The Management Module uses internal serial ports to connect to the Data Plane processor.

Administration and User Logs are available with Syslog.

CEP management security features include:

• Administrative policies for adding, removing, disabling and renaming authorized users; limiting user access to assigned commands; and enabling only desired port numbers.

• User authentication directly or in conjunction with TACACS+ or RADIUS servers including RSA SecureID support for two factor trusted compliance.

• An SSH command interface encrypting management traffic with powerful 256 bit symmetric keys and NIST based passwords.

• Support of the SNMPv3 protocol for secure connectivity to SNMP element managers.

• In addition, administrative accounting data can be reported to syslog servers with accurate timestamps provided by an NTP source.

Alternator -ALT

Alternator option alternatively sends the IP packetized T1 frames on LAN 1 and LAN 2. The Alternator option enables fractional and full T1 circuits to be split over two IP WAN connections such as SDSL.
