Redundant Circuit Extension Over IP with Satellite Delay Synchronization

Aptos, CA. – July 20th, 2006: Engage Communication announced today the availability of an Enhanced version of its Protector option. The IPTube’s protector option utilizes its second LAN interface as a redundant path for the interconnection of IP encapsulated T1/E1/RS530/V.35/X.21 and RS449 Circuits. Enhanced Protector delivers full time redundant links for Pseudo Wires over diverse media such as LANs, WANs, MANs, Satellite and Wireless Ethernet.

The Enhanced version has configuration parameters that enable a secondary packet path with high relative delay to the primary path to be synchronized. The packet delivery synchronization ensures concurrent redundancy with a high degree of error tolerance. Error free operation is accomplished when a primary or secondary Packet is not received and a redundant duplicate packet is available. The IPTube also supports the transmission of multiple duplicate packets to support Mission Critical Circuit extension with redundancy that is only limited by the bandwidth provisioned.

“A major opportunity that involves the delivery of Radio Station program delivery from over terrestrial circuits with IP Satellite backup encouraged Engage to enhance the Protector option to provide 700 milliseconds of jitter tolerant synchronized redundancy.” according to Mark Doyle, Engage Communication President. “The Synchronized buffer delay takes enables the radio broadcaster to know that packet drops on a single path are not going to result in audio decoder glitches.”
