Benefits of SS7 Over IP
Service providers can cut costs with SS7 Over IP by
offloading data traffic from SS7 networks onto IP networks. Short Message Service (SMS) data that is saturating GSM service providers' SS7 networks can be transported over IP Networks.

SS7
SS7 is the ubiquitous standard used by phone companies worldwide to enable call setup, control, routing, billing, and information exchange. Defined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Telecommunications Standardization Sector (ITU-T) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), SS7 defines the protocols and procedures by which elements of the PSTN exchange information over a digital signaling network. Traditionally, the SS7 network has comprised an out-of-band series of dedicated links that are bidirectional 56- or 64-kbps. These links have typically run over leased-line TDM networks.

SS7’s widespread use for such applications as wireless roaming; enhanced voice services like calling name and calling number; and in Europe for short messaging service (SMS), an email-like feature on some pagers.

Short Message Service (SMS) data is saturating GSM service providers' SS7 networks.

 SS7 Over IP

The IPTube•SS7•SIG transports SS7 messages over IP networks. SS7 signaling network elements such as local and tandem switches, Mobile Switching Centers, Signal Transfer Points and Home Location Registers that are interconnected to remote network elements by IPTube•SS7•SIGs are able to transmit their signaling messages over cost effective and flexible IP networks.

The IPTube•SS7•SIG is available with T1, E1, V.35 or RS530 physical interfaces to connect to the SS7 Telecommunication equipment's communication link.

The T1 and E1 Models are optionally available with 2nd T1 or E1 Drop and Insert interface for direct connection to the SS7 DS0.. Traditional transmission equipment such as TDM multiplexers (MUXs) and digital cross-connects are not required.

The IPTube Gx1 SS7 MONs encapsulates SS7 Call Detail Messages from Telecom Switches into IP packets for delivery to an SS7 Protocol analyzer. The IPTube Gx1 SS7 MONs provides for remote monitoring of SS7 based Telecom Switches systems via cost effective and flexible IP networks.

The IPTube Gx1 SS7 MONs connects to the Telco interface of the SS7 Telecom Switch and is setup to monitor the SS7 traffic. At the Central Support Site an IPTube Gx1 SS7 MON receives the SS7 Over IP packets and sends the SS7 Messages to an SS7 Protocol Analyzer.

The IPTube Gx1 SS7 MONis available with T1 or E1 physical interfaces to connect to the SS7 Telecommunication equipment's communication link.
