ENGAGE SHIPS INVERSE PACKET MULTIPLEXOR AND ROUTER COMBINATION

APTOS, Calif., June 22, 1999 - Engage Communication, a 10 year veteran in the Wide Area Networking market place, adds Inverse Packet Multiplexing - IPM - to the Advanced ExpressRouter and the Advanced IPExpress lines of WAN and Internet Access Routers. Engage's Inverse Packet Multiplexor supports 2 WAN ports at data rates from 56,000 to 2,048,000 bits per second on each port for interconnections of up to 4 MBPS . The Inverse Packet Multiplexor works over Dedicated and Frame Relay technologies and has built-in line fault detection and automatic bandwidth backup.

Inverse Packet Multiplexing - IPM - fills in the major bandwidth gap in telecommunication service offerings. The bandwidth gap between T1 - 1.544 MBPS and T3's 45 MBPS, and the difference in pricing of a local loop for T1 at $400 and T3s starting point for 3Mbps of around $4,000, makes aggregation of T1s a very compelling solution. Engage's Advanced IPExpress with 2 integrated T1 DSU/CSUs is targeted at the 3 MBPS window.

The potential market for Engage's IPM solution is enormous, according to industry pundits. For most of the ISPs in the U.S., T1 is the circuit of choice because it is stable, reliable, ubiquitous, and proven. There is an installed base of 1.6 million T1 lines, which will double in the next four years, according to a recent report from Alex Brown.

"The addition of Inverse Packet Multiplexing to our routers enables us to tap into the insatiable demand for affordable bandwidth" said Mark Doyle, Engage's president. "Our ISP customers, that have come to rely upon us for very cost effective T1 internet access solutions, have been pushing us to provide them with a solution for the aggregation of T1 circuits."

Now Engage routers with 2 integrated T1/E1 DSU/CSUs are an ideal choice for ISPs and Enterprises that are encountering overloads on a T1/E1 circuit and are looking for a very cost effective and highly reliable way to double the bandwidth. The Fractional T1 support enables service providers to set the data rate at 128k increments.

Pricing and Availability
The Inverse Packet Multplexor is available now. An upgrade is available for owners of Engage's Advanced Routers. Models are available with 2 integrated T1, E1 or 56/64kDDS DSU/CSUs. Also, the IPM works with external xDSL modems that have V.35, RS232, or RS530 synchronous serial interfaces. The list pricing for the Advanced IPExpress - an IP router - and the Advanced ExpressRouter - an IP/IPX/Appletalk router - are:

Advanced IPExpress with IPM - 2 Serial Ports (V.35/RS530/RS232) $1,295
Advanced IPExpress with IPM - 2 Integrated 56/64k DSU/CSU WAN Ports $1,995
Advanced IPExpress with IPM - 2 Integrated T1 DSU/CSU WAN Ports $2,295
Advanced IPExpress with IPM - 2 Integrated E1 DSU/CSU WAN Ports $2,595
Advanced ExpressRouter with IPM - 2 Serial Ports (V.35/RS530/RS232) $1,595
Advanced ExpressRouter with IPM - 2 Integrated 56/64k DSU/CSU WAN Ports $2,295
Advanced ExpressRouter with IPM - 2 Integrated T1 DSU/CSU WAN Ports $2,595
Advanced ExpressRouter with IPM - 2 Integrated E1 DSU/CSU WAN Ports $2,895
